CES 2022 has been a successful event in my opinion despite the lower number of expected attendees and exhibitors. Several tech, social media, telecom carriers, e-commerce, and car manufacturers such as AMD, OnePlus, Google, Waymo, GM, Intel, Lenovo, TikTok, AT&T, T-Mobile, Nvidia, Amazon, Ring, Pinterest, Meta, Microsoft, Brunswick, Magna, Mercedes-Benz, and more have all canceled their physical presence at the last minute due to the spike in the number of COVID cases prior to the event.
One of the first things that caught my attention at the event is how convenient it was to transport between the convention halls via the Tesla Loop which is made by Elon Musk’s “The Boring Company”. In my opinion, this was a great way to showcase the solution and the product (his cars) at one of the largest technology conventions in the world.
By far, it has been the most environmentally friendly event I have attended as far as the products and solutions that were made and shown by the exhibitors. It made it clear that the world is only going forward and advancing rapidly. If you ask me, the electric fleet would have definitely taken the prize, as every single car, truck, van, motorcycle, and flying car was powered by batteries rather than diesel or gasoline.
IoT, AI, and ML had strong presence at the conference which indicates that companies are dedicating larger budgets on research and development to ensure their early entry to the new era of intelligence and advanced technologies.
Seeing 40,000 international and domestic attendees was a relief even though the total is about 75% less than prior years. It is still a good sign that shows that the world is opening back up and that people are getting vaccinated since the vaccine was mandated to attend the event. In my opinion, the major factors for the decrease in attendees total is due to the spike of the Omicron variant and the mandate of the vaccine.
Going into CES 2022 made me believe that flying cars, drone deliveries, only electric fleets on the road, smart cities and homes, and full dependency on robotic labor will begin and be witnessed by our generations and the generations that will come after us.
